Questions

Frequently asked questions.

Plain answers about how the program works. Details like pay, hours, and schedule are agreed directly between you and your partner organization once you’re matched.

Is the internship paid?

Some placements are paid; others are unpaid or for academic credit. Each partner sets compensation for their role and discusses it with you directly before anything is finalized — you’ll know the terms before you commit.

How many hours per week?

There’s no fixed number. After you’re matched, you and the partner agree on hours that fit the project and your schedule.

How long does an internship last?

There’s no set term. You and the partner agree on a duration that fits the project — a summer, a semester, or something longer.

Who can apply?

Students and recent graduates who want to work with Peoria-area organizations. If you’re not sure you qualify, apply anyway — every application is read by a person.

When will I hear back?

Every application is reviewed by hand, so timing depends on partner availability. You’ll get a confirmation email right after you apply, an invitation if a partner wants to interview you, and a final decision either way. You can check where you stand anytime at Check Application Status.

Is it remote or in-person?

Most partners are in the Peoria area, and many roles are in-person or hybrid. The working arrangement is one of the things you settle directly with your partner.

Do I need a resume?

No — but we strongly recommend attaching one. A resume gives partners a fuller picture of what you’ve done, and it makes their decision easier. If you don’t have one yet, don’t let that stop you: thoughtful, honest answers on the application get a full review either way.

What if I’m not matched?

You’ll hear from us either way — no one is left guessing. And you’re welcome to apply again in a future round.

How do organizations become partners?

Start with the partner application at Become a partner organization. We’ll follow up from there.
